Aktivitet | Textile blockprinter, designer, dyer and teacher. Susan Bosence moved to Devon to become secretary to W B Curry, headmaster of Dartington Hall School. Encouraged by friends in the crafts, she experimented with handblock printed and resist-dyed textiles and was introduced by Dorothy Elmhirst to the team of Phyllis Barron and Dorothy Larcher, two of the leading exponents of the craft of the interwar years. She taught at Dartington Hall School and at Dartington Adult Education Centre where she opened a dye-house and printing classroom. She left Dartington in 1966 to live at Sigford, Devon. Taught part-time at Camberwell and Farnham art schools. |
