Activity | 'News of the Day' (NOD) was established in 1927 by Leonard Elmhirst. In 1928, John Nicholson Wales was appointed as editor and Charles Inman was placed in charge of publishing and later became editor. NOD was published twice a week and was a vital means of communicating the activities of departments and events happening upon the Estate. In 1936, G (Gaff) Mackie was appointed as editor. In 1938 a limited liability company, Dartington Press Ltd (DPL) was established, taking over responsibility for NOD, and in 1939 Elieen Brice became editor. In 1943 its publication was reduced to 1 issue a week with Kay Starr acted as editor. In 1946, Robin Johnson became editor and in 1956 the day of publication was changed from Wednesday to Friday. In 1965, David Johnson was appointed as full time editor and was succeeded by Nicolas Cottis in 1966. In 1967, NOD was renamed 'Dartington Hall News'. |
