| Activity | Environmentalist, ornithologist, author. He was co-founder of Political and Economic Planning, along with Leonard Elmhirst, Kenneth Lindsay, Julian Huxley and others. During the war he had a key post at the Ministry of War Transport. Since then he has been the Director General of Nature Conservancy, Chairman of Land Use Consultants, Vice-President of the Royal Society of Arts and President of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. His nephew, Brian Nicholson, was Head of Dartington Hall School from 1985 until its closure in 1987. |
