| Description | Dorothy Elmhirst's Photographic and Painting Collection is a miscellaneous series that draws together all of the photographs and images that she accumulated in her lifetime. This series includes family photographs dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century many of which are believed to have been taken by Dorothy herself. Also included are copies of images taken by Leonard for his wife.
The subjects pictured are reflective of Dorothy and her interests; most prominent are her family and friends, her early travels through the Asian subcontinent and also the performing arts, notably the Ballet Jooss.
Dorothy also extensively collected postcards from all around the world but these have yet to be fully catalogued. |
