| Description | The folder contains correspondence relating to in the first instance a short survey to be made of the infrastructure of Bhutan. Preliminary correspondence is with Adam Curle of the University College of Ghana, who was subsequently unable to take up the post. Further enquiries were with Charles Madge of the University of Birmingham, Athole Mackintosh and William Clark of the Overseas Development Institute and P R Bakshi of the Government of Bhutan.
There is an illustrated card and letter from the Mahayana Monastic House, Dalhousie, India proposing a meeting between the Elmhirsts and the Dalai Lama. There is also an autographed black and white photograph of the Dalai Lama. Other papers include a report of The Tibetan Homes Foundation 1963-64, and correspondence with Marco Pallis, A Brookes of The Tibet Society; L P Lhalungpa; W G Kundeling and His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa; and David Pyke of King's College Hospital, London re Gyalwa Karmapa and diabetes. |
