| Aktivitet | Came to Dartington in 1926 to manage the orchards. He started the Orchards Department in 1927. Developed soft fruit, vegetables and bulbs. Started Marley Fruit Farm, 1933. He established a cider press at Shinners Bridge and in 1935 introduced the first apple juice to Britain. He started Dartington Orchards Ltd with H L Garvin in 1941. He and his wife Paula ran the evacuation programme for the Dartington area and a school for evacuees at Aller Park (the Dartington Junior School have from there to the Senior School at Foxhole). Roger left Dartington Hall in 1945 to run his own farm, Bulkamore Farm, a few miles from Dartington. Before his death in 1957 the farm was bought by Dartington Hall Trustees in 1952 and leased to Eloise and John Sharman. |
