TitelElmhirst Committee
BeskrivelseLeonard Elmhirst's correspondence with Anna Bogue discussing funding opportunities for the Elmhirst Committee on Commitments. Charities and causes considered include the State Charities Aid Association of New York State; International Migration Service; American Museum of Natural History educational outreach programme; Berkeley Divinity School; and the American Committee for the International People's College at Elsinore, Denmark. Discussion documents for funding proposals include information about the charities and individuals under discussion. Individuals supported include Boshi Sen and dance-mime pioneer Angna Enters.

An exchange of letters between Leonard Elmhirst and Anna Bogue in Feb and Apr 1927 discusses the progress made starting Dartington Hall School, Dorothy Elmhirst and American perceptions that Leonard may have 'decoyed, trapped and inveigled' her away from America, their early ambitions for the Dartington Hall experiment, and other topics. Bogue complains about the 'chaos of moving and the disruption of routine' resulting from the sale of the house at 1130 Fifth Avenue New York. In connection with the move, there is notice of the shipping of a Chinese Kakemona painting to Dartington Hall.
