ActivityThe youngest and closest of Leonard Elmhirst's seven brothers. He trained and practised as a solicitor and also managed the Elmhirst family estate near Barnsley in Yorkshire. He was involved with Dartington Hall from its earliest days - he was, with Fred Gwatkin, its legal adviser for many years - and was a Dartington Trustee from 1932 until 1980 when he became Trustee Emeritus. He lived with his wife, Gwen, in their farmhouse near Barnsley and their warm hospitality to all was legendary. Pom was an active amateur historian and a passionate follower of cricket, which he only gave up playing when well into his eighties.
