ActivityThe University was established in the middle of the nineteenth century. After the Great Exhibition of 1851 interest in extra-mural studies grew. In 1855, it became a School of Art and in 1863, a School of Science. With support from the University of Cambridge, the college became in 1893 the Exeter Technical and University Extension College. In 1900 its title was changed to the Royal Albert Memorial College. Then in 1922 it was established as the University College of the South West of England. And in 1955, the College received its Charter as the University of Exeter.
