| Activity | Founded by A E Malbon. Directors included Albert Mansbridge and L K Elmhirst. Architect was Louis de Soissons. A building contractors alliance, the Society was formed in 1944 in order to rebuild housing stocks. According to Bonham-Carter, Nye Bevan opposed the Society, preferring that postwar housing construction should be controlled and funded by government.
