ActivityEstablished by the Forestry Commission and other interested parties. The Council composed of representatives of English and Scottish timber growers and merchants, the Forestry Commission, the Forest Products Laboratory, and a number of larger consumers. Lord Clinton and W E Hiley represented the English timber growers. The greatest achievement of the Council was the costing of pitprops production and a test census of standing timber. The Council was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in 1936.
