| Activity | A charitable company set up by The Dartington Hall Trust in 1982 for Dartington Institute, under Michael Dower (DI launched July 1982). Members of DCER were The Dartington Hall Trust, The Dartington Hall Trust Corporation and later The Dartington North Devon Trust (TDHT and TDHTC being a member of DNDT). DI incorporated the work of DART and Dartington Institute of Community Studies. Trustees of DCER and directors of Dartington Centre for Education and Research were one and the same and were responsible in effect for the activities of DI. Peter Downing became Director of DI in 1985. DCER changed its name in 1985 to Dartington Action Research Trust. (There appears to be some confusion as to whether the name changed to Dartington Amenity Research Trust, but it is doubtful whether this would have been accepted by the Charity Commission as the name had previously been used). |
