| Activity | Until 1925, the Colonial Office had responsibility for all British colonies and dominions besides India, which had its own Secretary of State. In 1966, the office was merged with the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations. In 1968 the Commonwealth Office was amalgamated into the Foreign Office, to became known as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. |
