| Activity | Walter Thomas (always known as Thomas or Tommy) came as butler to Dorothy and Leonard in 1926 and was the head of a large staff in the Private House at Dartington Hall. He marred Emily in 1933 and for thirty six years, with his natural gavity belied by the frequent twinkle in his eye, he ensured the smooth running of the household. He died a few months after retiring in 1962 and was never replaced. |
