| Description | This folder consists primarily of typed transcriptions made by Prof Edward A Stettner, of extensive correspondence between Dorothy, Willard, and Michael Straight and Leonard Elmhirst with Herbert and Louise Croly concerning the establishment and management of The New Republic. Also included are photocopies of original letters and a few of the original letters. Includes correspondence with Croly about his biography of Willard Straight; personal correspondence between Croly and Dorothy; a letter from Robert M Lovett relating to an early anthology of Herbert Croly's New Republic writings, including a selected list of Croly's articles. Later records of Leonard Elmhirst and Prof Edward A Stettner include an interview with Leonard about Croly, Dorothy, and the New Republic. There is also a photograph of Herbert and Louise Croly taken in January 1930. |
