Description'A Line-a-Day' diary of America - mainly social life. This diary's front endpaper has been annotated and says,'Dorothy Straight-my fellow farer true through life, Ethel' and below that '1st January 1916.' Someone has started an index system and so the index card in this diary reads,' DW's (Dorothy Whitney's) engagement, books, 1925-.' Also enclosed is a calling card-M. David De Car, Vice-Consul of the United States of America, Paris and an address for a G. H. G. Clowes in Indiana. There are two loose letters one with an index card with, 'From Doro, (Draper Blagden) probably Thursday 2nd January 1919 or Thursday 1st January 1920,' with Karolyn Gould's initials and dated 1971 and the other undated letter is from Ruth Morgan. There are four loose newspaper cuttings re the First World War and one is a book title-'Co-operation and the Future of Industry,' by Leonard S. Woolf. New York: The Macmillan Company. A loose list by Dorothy Elmhirst re diet and weight, a typed speech by Dorothy Elmhirst for unknown audience; two loose pieces of paper with three handcopied poems (by Dorothy Elmhirst)and five loose typed poems.
