Notes on First World War army training and procedures including instructions on carrier pigeons, gas attacks, mapping, field sketchings, conventional army symbols, musketry, firing instructions, drill discipline and leadership, trench warfare, field engineering, field organisation, military law, stages in attack, bombs and grenades, explosives, gunpowder, use of the lewis gun, pay and remuneration, messages, smoke and fire action.

Includes a general letter to the Guards Division from T G Matheson, dated 11 November 1918, giving congratlulations and thanks to the troops for their courage, endurance and discipline throughout the final months of the War.
