| Description | This series of photographs follows the course of the Chekhov Theatre Studio after their move to Ridgefield, Connecticut following the outbreak of the Second World War. The photographs includes many of Beatrice Straight and Michael Chekhov during their time with the Company in Ridgefield along with other members of the company. There are many photographs of the different productions including 'The Possessed' (1939) starring Beatrice Straight that appeared on Broadway in Oct 1939. It also includes production photographs from the first tour (Oct-Dec 1940) which showed performances of Charles Dicken's 'The Cricket on the Hearth' and Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'. |
