DescriptionCorrespondence regarding the arrangements, finance, and reception of an exhibition of Contemporary British Pottery and Textile and an International Conference of Craftsmen in Pottery and Textiles held at Dartington Hall (1952). Subjects include: invitations to Robin Tanner, Muriel Rose, Nikolaus Pevsner to serve on a Pottery and Textiles Advisory Panel; a requests by Dartington Hall Trust to the Rockefeller Foundation to assist with the finance of the Exhibition and Conference; finding representatives from the USA for the Conference; the loan of a number of pieces by Elizabeth Peacock for the exhibition; an invitation to Shoji Hamada, Soeku Yanagi and Richard B Patterson to attend the International Conference of Artists and Craftsmen; an application for the duty-free importation of goods for the purpose of the Conference; biographical details for Lucie Rie and Tibor Reich; the loan and collection of textile and pottery work for the exhibition; and damage to a Bernard Leach pot owned by The Dean of York.
