| Description | The file records the gift made by Mrs Elvira Drake to finance an organ building workshop to be run by her son William (Bill) Drake and his partner John Wellingham (formerly organ teacher at Dartington College of Arts). Premises in Buckfastleigh, Devon were leased and the project realised with the additional help of the Elmgrant Trust. (The project had an association with the John Loosemore Organ Centre through John Wellingham). The Yates Organ was built by Roger Yates and was commissioned by Elvira Drake and was for many years in Dartington College of Arts. It was later moved to the John Loosemore Organ Centre, and was sold by the Trust to Nigel Gardner in 2006. |
