TitleScrapbook: Foxhole Stage Group
DescriptionThe Stage Group was formed in 1942 and consisted of people who were willing to be permanently responsible for the maintenance and equipment of the school stage. The original members were M Hardie-Lewis (lighting); Adam Edwards (construction), Breon O-Casey (scene painting), Adrian Marshall (wardrobe), Shela Mason (properties), and John Baker (curtain and odd jobs).

This scrapbook contains the workings of the Foxhole Stage Group and includes narrative on the plays performed by the group along with programmes, stage sets and costume designs.

Includes programmes from December 1942; 'The Rehearsal' and 'Scenes from Victoria Regina', Spring term 1943 'Rip van Winkle', 'As You Like It', 'Great Catherine'; Spring Term 1944 'Joseph and His Brothers', 'Out of Court', Summer Term 1944 'The Man Who Was Caliph For A Day'; Christmas Term 1944 'Robin Hood', Summer Term 1945 'The Tempest', Christmas Term 1945 'Revue for the Christmas Party', Spring Term 1946 'The Nigger Boy and The Monkey', Christmas Term 1946 'The Man in the Bowler Hat'; Spring Term 1947 'Cross My Palm with Silver', 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. In addition 'The Black Boy & The Monkey' Written and presented by the D Group, Dartington Hall School (see note below)

Note: Email from Devon Record Office staff (20 Jun 2011) stated that no programme for 'The Nigger Boy and the Monkey' or any of the other productions between Christmas Term 1945 and Spring Term 1947, apart from the last production 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' are in this folder.
