Beskrivelse | Correspondence and at least three typescript drafts of Michael Chekhov's book 'To the Actor'. The book was first drafted in 1938 at Dartington Hall by Michael Chekhov working with his assistant, Deirdre Hurst du Prey. Work continued in 1942 at Ridgefield with Chekhov working in association with Paul Marshall Allen and Deirdre du Prey. The book was extensively re-written, edited, and published finally in 1953 by Harper & Row. The 1953 version was said to have omitted earlier references to the influence of Steiner and Anthroposophy on Chekhov's acting theory. |
