Beskrivelse | Dartington Hall School records accumulated during the first years of the School, from 1926-1931. Includes papers of early education department directors Wyatt Rawson, J V (Vic) Elmhirst and John Wales. Also includes critical reports of visiting American educationists including Eduard Lindeman, Frederick and Virginia Bonser, and Helen Mayers. Records tend to be scattered, with little material surviving from the first two years. There are records of educational research by Clarice Evans, investigating English progressive boarding schools in the 1920s. The School Education Committee minute books are also a useful source. The correspondence of schoolmaster Wyatt Rawson, is primarily addressed to Leonard Elmhirst and consists of many emotional letters about early Dartington Hall activities and people, mentioning Rawson's work in progressive education. The subseries also includes early school publications containing samples of student work. |
