Activity | Dancer and dance instructor. Leeder met Kurt Jooss in 1924 and together they developed a new method for training dancers, contributing to Laban's system of dance notation. In 1934 Leeder left Germany, and the Jooss-Leeder School of Dance was established at Dartington Hall. In 1940 he spent several months in an internment camp before later joining Jooss in Cambridge for the reorganisation of the Ballets Jooss. Established his own school in London in 1947 and another in Switzerland in 1964. There are four pictures by Leeder in the Dartington Hall Trust Collection. |
