Activity | The primary function of the Agricultural Economics Research Department was to: assist in organising the various sections of the experiment by assisting in planning and carrying out the work of the commercial departments; analyse the results of their efforts; forecast the probable trend of production and marketing in this country and else where; and prepare periodic reports on the economic progress of each enterprise including a detailed system of cost accounting for the benefits of the outside world. Externally the functions of the Agricultural Economics Department were to: analyse and criticise the economics of certain schemes advocated by outside agencies; carrying out specific research work including a agricultural survey of South Devon; lecture in the County on economic subjects relating to agriculture; and to perform the secretarial and financial work in connection with the International Conference of Agricultural Economists. |
