Activity | Founded by Richard Proby, President of the Central Landowners Association. The Committee was composed of representatives of the Central Landowners Association, Home Grown Timber Marketing Association, and the Royal English Forestry Society. Later representatives from the Chartered Surveyors Institute and the Land Agents Society joined the Committee. A corresponding Committee was established in Scotland. The aims of the Committee were to: further the interests of private forestry societies; promote relations with the Forestry Commission; and to aid in Forestry Legislation. The Committee was very active in 1951 in advancing amendments to the Forestry Bill, many of which were incorporated in the Forestry Act 1951. |
