Activity | The pre-existing students training scheme dating from 1954 became known as the Horticultural Training Centre in 1967, with T L Underhill NDH as its director. It stayed within the organisational framework of the Grounds and Gardens department. Students took City and Guilds Stage I, GCE O Levels, the Royal Horticultural Society General Examination and the department's own Dartington Diploma. The majority of the financial support came from The Dartington Hall Trust, with the remainder from each student's own Local Education Authority.
