ActivityDesigner, Dartington Hall Gardens and Courtyard area. Skilled designer and founder member of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1899. As a pioneer landscape designer in the US, she was responsible for many famous gardens including Dumbarton Oaks and Apple Green. Her only work in England was the gardens at Dartington Hall. She first visited in Feb 1933 and until the outbreak of war she re-designed the courtyard and out of the woodland she created paths of rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias. She died at the age of 86 from a heart attack.
